my business story
My name is Lily and I am the owner of Lelie's studio. I am a 19 year old A level graduate who decided to pursue her dream of running her own business rather than attending university.
Lelie's studio started as an idea in 2024, when I asked for a sewing machine for my birthday to aid my previous crochet business. I have a lot of crafting experience, so sewing was just the next craft to perfect. From a very young age I was creatively driven, and most recently completed my fine art A level achieving an A*. I set myself a strict deadline and published my first collection featuring four products after 5 weeks of preparing the business. Because of this, I hope that my business, brand, website and products keep evolving , because my vision for Lelie's studio has only just started.
When I had the idea of branching away from crocheting into sewing, I knew I wanted to bring my passion for the environment into my new business, something I hadn't done previously. This is why I decided that all fabric used in my business would be reclaimed and upcycled. All fabrics are sourced from car boot sales or charity shops, usually shirts and jeans, cut down into workable pieces of fabric and handcrafted into unique, limited pieces for my business. Annually, 92 million tonnes of textile waste is produced internationally, and when designing my business I was keen not to contribute to this figure.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank every supporter I have had during my business journey so far. Shopping small supports a real person and their dreams, and that support is never taken for granted <3
